In this felony DWI case, the convicted driver has been given quite a long prison sentence: 55 years, in a case that involved the deaths of four people.

As Craig Kapitan reports for the Houston Chronicle, during the sentencing phase, the 40-year-old said in court, "Sorry just isn't good enough. I took your family away from you. If I could absorb your pain and hurt, I would."

Here are the facts of the case: The police witnessed a driver running a red light. The police flashed their lights, but the driver didn't stop, and a chase ensued. While she was fleeing the police, she ran a stop sign, hitting a Dodge Caravan with four people inside.

The van then ricocheted off a utility pole, which resulted in the deaths of a wife, two daughters, and a grandson.

The grandfather, Jose Perez, wrote a statement which was apparently read in court: "Three generations are lost. There is no punishment in the world that can change what has happened or bring back my loved ones."
